Conscious Expansion: How Our Choices Shape Reality and Elevate Humanity by Care’n Mooney

You're not just a passive observer of reality; you're an active participant in shaping it. Every thought you hold, every emotional state you embody creates a measurable shift in your nervous system, your biochemistry, and ultimately your life.

Your consciousness isn't just reacting to the world; it is actively constructing it. You don't attract what you want; you attract what you are. If you exist in a state of resentment, fear, or apathy, your perception narrows, filtering the world through a distorted lens. When your internal world is in chaos, your external world will mirror that disorder, not because of some mystical principle but because your mind and body function as a feedback loop. The nervous system scans for patterns that confirm your internal state, reinforcing the same emotional and cognitive cycles.

But here's the key: there is always a third option. Beyond suffering and blind optimism, that option is conscious expansion. It is the disciplined choice to break free from reactive emotional loops and shift your awareness to higher perspectives - one that sees challenges as pathways rather than obstacles. It starts with anticipation, not passive gratitude, but an active reconstruction of your perception.

When you train yourself to notice even the smallest signs of order, beauty, and meaning, you change your internal frequency. Your body stabilizes, your mind becomes more adaptive, and suddenly new possibilities emerge, not because the world has changed but because you have. This is a philosophy; it is psychology, physiology, and energy dynamics at work. When we learn to witness pain objectively rather than absorbing it emotionally, we gain the ability to truly serve others - not from fear but from love. Instead of reacting to the world's chaos, we become an anchor within it. We develop the capacity to see suffering without becoming lost in it, allowing us to act with clarity, strength, and purpose. When we take full responsibility for our awareness, we don't just attract a better reality; we create it.

How do our choices have anything to do with the universe? Sometimes it seems that we are at the mercy of fate or destiny. It feels like no matter what we do, something stronger around us influences where we go and what we do. Or a situation presents itself and we find ourselves making decisions we never thought we would make. What allows us to begin to understand that we are not puppets, not being tossed around in a sea of uncertainty? We came for a purpose, and we came to allow this experience to enhance who we know we can be.

As we spend time understanding ourselves, becoming aware of the decisions we make, the thoughts we have, and even the words we say to ourselves, how can our simple decisions really affect the Earth? Do they change the perceptions of others around us? Possibly, the message here is that we are all unique pieces of a puzzle, and sometimes we don't even know that we are part of that puzzle. Nor do we realize that our simple contributions will make a difference in the lives of many who come after us.

In your life, I am sure that you have been influenced, guided, and directed by someone or something - a book you read, a movie you saw, or an experience you had. These all shape the essence of your being. You never know how or when you may have a profound effect on someone. But if you begin living your life with the intent of always being impeccable with your speech, being forgiving, finding gratitude, and seeing the beauty around you, perhaps this gives you what you need to become the inspiration for others.

As I said, you may never know when the universe gives you an opportunity to see how you have beautifully influenced the life of another. Many years ago, I volunteered at a school where they had children with various physical challenges. My task was to assist a young girl dealing with cerebral palsy to simply separate the different colors of beads and put them in the corresponding color box. During the many weeks that I worked with her, we had different tasks, and she always smiled from ear to ear; however, she never spoke a word to me. I did not know if she was verbal or just enjoying the moment, but there was no verbal communication.

Many years later, I became a nail technician, and my very first customer was an older woman. She looked at me and started to tear up before I had even said anything. She said, "I know you." I looked at her, puzzled, because I did not recognize her. She said, "You were the person who worked with my granddaughter at this particular school." I looked at her questioningly and asked how that could be. She said, "You were all my granddaughter could talk about." I had not done anything spectacular or remarkable. I had just lovingly been in the presence of this young lady and was speaking to her the whole time. Her beautiful smile, so unique and warm, was something I never forgot. I didn't stay long at that school because life took me in other directions, but now, sitting across from her grandmother and receiving all kinds of praise, I realized the impact I had on this young girl's life.

It is rare to meet someone you have truly inspired, but when it happens, it encourages you to continue on the path of self-awareness, understanding, living with gratitude, self-love, and being conscious that the words you speak should come from your soul—words of unconditional love, inspiration, kindness, generosity, and understanding.

Everything we have achieved, lost, seen, done, learned, and unlearned allows us to become members of this unique organization called humanity and humankind. As we move through this world, we find so much in humanity and question whether our small contributions will make a change. However, if you have ever seen the movie "Lady in the Water" by M. Night Shyamalan, you will understand that it tells the story of a being who came back to assist humanity. She came specifically to find one person and encourage them to finish writing their book, for unbeknownst to this author, his book would shape a young man's life and this young man would become a person of great power and influence and make a difference to the entire world.

We never know that that one spark we inspired someone with, that one thought that fell on seemingly barren land, first into a beautiful tree of knowledge that allowed many people to eat from and be inspired, could be the inspiration that was needed at this time.

Each time that we allow ourselves to become in tune with our soul, become aware of the hidden potential that lies just beneath the surface, we are assisting the universe. We are the creators, we are the light, and we are the inspiration.

When we look at ourselves in the mirror and see the human form, we are often overly judgmental. We tend to ignore people who are describing us to someone. Listen, get a glimpse of how others see you, understand also that others may not see your true potential and come across with negative ideas. That is where they are, but when you hear a person say to you, "I was drawn to your energy. I feel this warmth just radiating out from you. I knew that I needed to be around you for the rest of my journey," they see you with different eyes.

These are glimpses of your potential that you may not see, and every now and then you need to accept that there is so much more that you are capable of beneath the façade of simply being human. Allow for the potential that you have the ability to shape the universe.

Every Tuesday evening, I have a heart-centered meditation at my center in Mesa, Arizona. I call it the open-heart meditation. I guide the group into our heart’s center, feeling it with joy, feeling it expands and vibrates faster and faster until we become our true essence as beings of light.

If anyone is in the Phoenix or Mesa area, please give me a call and be part of our open-heart meditation.
